Spring Susannah

Since the weather has been lovely recently, we've been playing outside for the hour or so after work and before dinner/bath/bed routine. Usually it involves hunting for rocks and feathers, all of which are stuffed into pants pockets, and playing "boa" (ball) with Shiloh.

Here is evidence of Shiloh's great patience.

And tolerance. And willingness to put up with about anything if someone will just throw her a ball.

Up close and personal. I think there's a tiny fleck of left over lunch on her cheek.

One of the hyacinth corners of our yard. We also have daffodils, purple and yellow crocuses (croci?), hostas and peonies bearing their leaves and blooms in some cases.

While reaching out for the wind chime near the garage. Notice she is tolerating hair clips a bit more, specially if they are low profile like these:)

O. And forsythia bushes are also blooming.

Sunny days

This is Galon and I after arriving to our one-bedroom condo Top of The World #313. I'd recommend to anyone else cause it was definitly cute and clean and ski in ski out and some of the others there didn't look so hot. This was one of three photos I took the entire weekend. Oi vey.

After what feels like ages of rainy, drab weather today we finally saw the sunshine again.
Susannah has been doing some particularly cute things lately, or perhaps my eyes are just adjusted after a weekend of rest and shooshing at Snowshoe Mountain.
Yup- Grammy and Poppa G kept Lil Bit over the weekend for Galon and I to get some time mono et mono. It was lovely.
We were treated by my bro and his wife Katherine to a lovely meal and company (including Baker and Savannah and Scout)and were thrilled to sleep at their place, cutting our trip in half.
Although I must say, West Virginia is entirely too inaccessible. I mean, I'm all about pioneering and adventure and all, but when roads are so curvey for more than 60 miles worth of driving, oi vey. Needless to say, I was carsickish on the way there and the way out.
Luckily, we were passing through the lovely town of Monterey, Va. in time to stop for some real homemade saugage biscuits and engine oil caliber coffee at Ernies' Gas Station. Four wrinkled men in plaid shirts and fake demin were shooting the bull amid the haziest cloud of cigerette smoke I'd come across since the one time in college I went "clubbing."
Needless to say, I don't think they'd heard yet of Gov. Kaine's long heralded "no smoking in eating places" rule. Although I guess since they were sitting at the only table, it wasn't really an eating place for anyone else at that time.
But I digress.
So we get to the hill and ready to ski by Friday around 10 a.m. Good timing cause the hills had only been open an hour and the rain hadn't set in. Yet.
So we enjoyed about six hours of skiing that day and seven the next and were only a little sore. Snow was great the first day, average the second. No crowds. No lines. Made for a great weekend when combined with our newfound freedom of eat whenever, sleep whenever do whatever w/o baby.
So thanks Mom and Dad for taking care of Susie Q for us. Although we missed her terribly, it was lovely to spend some time alone.

Digesting more as a first timer mom

Mommy! I Have to Go Potty!: A Parent's Guide to Toilet Training Mommy! I Have to Go Potty!: A Parent's Guide to Toilet Training by Jan Faull

My review

rating: 4 of 5 stars
Being as I am overly prepared and anticipating not knowing anything about this process, I read this a bit too early for our daughter who is 18-months old. However, it provided good information and tips for how to deal with real life situation (like kids falling in toilet and freaking out that they are gonna get flushed.)

Because of my perspective as a first time mom without child rearing experience, some parts were a bit bizarre, like the sing to your kid while he's pooing part.

Overall, a good read and easy to apply.
