Our beloved baby sitter's husband had to be hospitalized around New Year's Day with pneumonia. This means that while we have been worried about him and her we've also been cautiously asking when or if they'd chose to watch kids in their cozy home anytime soon.
We had a sweet family friend fill the void already by watching Jolie but the time had come to find another person, a plan B, for our dear baby girl to hang out with while we're both at work.
That's a small amount of time (barely more than 10 percent of the entire week, including the seven or eight hours of us all sleeping each night.)
We had several friends recommend folks' who keep their babies (big and little) and talked it over- found a sweet girl (20 something) with two kids of her own who watches little ones in our neighborhood.
Today was day one of dropping Jolie off there and I blabbered on about the weather and shoes and working at the paper procrastinating leaving. The woman likely thinks I'm bonkers and one of "those moms" who will call or text every five minutes.
Haven't. Yet.
And she did say she'd contact me if there were any issues or emergencies (like bleeding or something?!? what exactly is an emergency for a 10 month old baby girl who likes chewing on electrical cords and pulling up on ceramic tubs?)
Oi vey.
And, in case folks ( or I) forget, I am becoming excited about these things coming up in 2012:
1. the beginning of another college football season (sooner than later, Geaux Tigers!)
2. a presidential election? that hasn't happpened yet? I feel like we've talked about this forever.
3. Summer Olympics! In London- yay!
4. more new episodes of Parenthood. Finally...
5. getting together with friends, new and old:)
Hope your years are off to a good start with plenty of things to look forward to!
