progress

Whenever Susannah is stalling during mealtimes, we struggle with patience. She will move the food around. Or lick the ketchup or ranch off whatever food she was supposed to be eating. Or just drink a lot and be "too full" for any dinner.
We've gone from saying "two more bites" or "finish your peas and you don't have to eat the meatloaf" to Galon simply saying "show us some progress."
So now Susannah was cheerfully holler out, sometimes not even related to mealtimes, that she is going to "show us some progress." It makes for interesting grocery store aisle chatting.
This weekend, I finally showed folks some progress when it comes to baking bread. Of course, attempt one failed miserably.

It may have had something to do with my impatience and using whole wheat flour totally, but who's to say.
Attempt two was success. Progress. Gone with several knives full of butter in about two hours.

The difference was mostly thanks to my ability to follow directions (the second time) and have a little more confidence about handling the sticky dough.

And, thanks to our great aunt Rev. Susie, I was wielding tools of the trade straight from King Arthur Flour and happily taken from the hands of my mailman. (The pizza peel packaging had him perplexed.)

Up next, I'm set to try the pan d'epi bread. And planning some yummy panini's with all this bread- as well as hoping to conquer regular, more healthy sandwich bread for our little family. (even measly preschool lunches cause us to really go through a store bought loaf pretty quickly.)

Will post "progress" if there is any reportable.
